AN ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of The Spice Peddler. Based on profit, cash flow, store sales potential and lease rates we can not continue our business. While this is a very sad outcome, the weak economy has proven just too great to overcome.

This closing will in no way affect the WILLOUGHBY GHOST WALK. We will continue and will be expanding our operation of the Ghost Walk, to include the original tour (coming up on our third season!) and adding a second tour - but the location for Ghost Walk sales will be changed. A little bit about spices…

A spice is a dried seed, fruit, root, bark or vegetative substance used in nutritionally insignificant quantities as a food additive for the purpose of flavoring.

In the kitchen, spices are distinguished from herbs, which are leafy, green plant parts used for flavoring purposes. Herbs, such as basil or oregano, are commonly chopped into smaller pieces. Spices, however, are dried and often ground or grated into a powder. Small seeds, such as fennel and mustard seeds, are used both whole and in powder form.
